Dryad is monster #70 from Series 2.

Series 2[]

The Dryad figure was available in all four Series 2 neon colors, and had a points value of ten. The figure depicted the Dryad as a monstrous tree, and was also available as a glow-in-the-dark premium.

After Ganesha was removed from the line, several changes were made to Series 2, including Dryad's name change to "Forest Dweller" in some markets.

Uniquely, an inflatable toy version of Dryad was released with promotional packs of SpaghettiOs. The toy was approximately three feet tall, and was colored orange with black and green details.

Official Biography[]

Species: Oak Monster
Size: 4.80 meters
Habitat: European forests

This creature is a forest nymph. From afar it looks like a tree, but up close its twisted face, powerful arms and legs, and feet in the shape of roots become apparent. If someone gets close enough, it catches them with its branches and then hangs them.

Origin[]

Dryads are wood nymphs in Greek mythology. Dryads were originally considered the nymphs of oak trees specifically, but the term has evolved towards tree nymphs in general. Often their life force was connected to the tree in which they resided and they were usually found in sacred groves of the gods. They were considered to be very shy creatures except around the goddess Artemis, who was known to be a friend to most nymphs.
